Solo travelers, couples and families that visit Key West often consider having a photography or portrait session during their visit. Sometimes it is someone who wants to propose to their partner. Other times it's an extended family that is coming together for the first time in a few years. A couple may want to celebrate a special anniversary or have professional photos in a romantic, tropical location. Senior photography and portraits to mark a milestone are also great reasons to have portraits taken. Many people that want a Key West photography session have their photos taken on one of our beautiful beaches, whether public or private. With the wide variety of photography I do and the number of locations, I've taken a lot of photos on the beach and want to share my top ten Key West beach portraits.

This couple was having a Key West engagement photography session at Smathers Beach on an overcast day that was leaving our chances of a breathtaking sunset in doubt. These sisters reunited for the first time in several years in Islamorada, rekindling a tradition of family photography to capture their close connections. This private beach had gorgeous palm. trees and foliage. Even the floating seaweed, an unavoidable part of the ocean during certain seasons, added to this photo by creating strong contrast between their light blue attire and the ocean.
These guys were having a Key West engagement photography session as this beautiful sunset began to take shape. The color in the sky was intense and reflecting off the nearly flat water. The palm tree and light colors of the guys' outfits contributed to the tropical vibe of this photo that quickly made it one of my favorite photos taken at Smathers Beach.
This local woman was having a Key West portrait session on Smathers Beach before she moved to North Carolina. A little bit of bantering got her to laugh and this authentic expression was the result.
